02 — Treatments
Every treatment includes the full bathing hall before and after, and the rest hour that follows it. We do not sell the middle on its own.

Warm hinoki oil and slow forearm work through the whole posterior chain. Firm, never sharp.
The traditional Japanese lifting massage — no product, no machine, forty-eight movements in a fixed sequence.
Dry scalp work seated in the tatami room. Thirty minutes, no undressing, no oil, no ceremony.
Thirty-five minutes of weighted foot and lower-leg work, done on the futon at the end of a bathing circuit.
Two therapists working in mirrored sequence. Disorientating for the first ten minutes and remarkable after that.
Bathing, shiatsu, kobido, a rest hour and kaiseki lunch in the garden room. Six hours, eight guests a day.
Before hands
You may be in the room but your nervous system is still in the taxi. Heat and cold get it here faster than conversation does.
Forty minutes in the water and a therapist can work at a depth that would be unpleasant on cold muscle.
The hour afterwards is not an indulgence at the end. It is when the work settles, which is why we build it into every booking.
What to expect
You will be asked three questions at the desk and no more. Therapists here do not conduct consultations; they read the body once their hands are on it, which is quicker and considerably more accurate.
Shiatsu is done fully clothed, in the loose cotton we provide. Oil work is done under a sheet, undressed to whatever level you are comfortable with. Nobody will comment on your body at any point.
If you would prefer silence, say so once. It will not need repeating.
Afterwards you are left where you are, with water beside you, until you get up on your own. There is no knock at the door.
Questions
Shiatsu, ninety minutes. It suits almost every body, it needs no oil and no undressing, and it tells your therapist more about you than any form would.
You may request one, and regular guests do. On a first visit we will assign whoever Rei thinks suits you, which she is better at than you would expect.
Shiatsu and kobido are, from the second trimester, on side-lying futons. The hot bath, the steam and the plunge are not, and Tomo will design a warm-only circuit instead.
Two weeks for a weekday, four for a Saturday, and eight for the Full Day Passage — we take eight guests a day on that and no more.
Most people do. The work continues, and nobody wakes you at the end.
